as most people could guess by now, i've really lost momentum with my mini comic i started almost ONE YEAR ago. i'm happy with how the comic strips look so far, but i put so much detail into them that it's hard to stay interested in this project -___-
i still hope to finish that batch of comics this year, but i want to focus on other projects right now. i've been making a lot of fan art the last week or so, and i have a goofy comic in mind about my last trip to canada.
maybe working on more "fun" art first will motivate me to finish my comic strips later, but that's tbd!!!
as i’ve shared several times on here and social media, i not only took part in 24 hours comic day last october, but i actually succeeded in finishing my comic :-) however, some might argue that i didn’t TRULY commit to the challenge because i split the 24 hours over two days. if you are one of those people, then please keep that thought to yourself -___-
this is a challenge that i attempted with my college comic club many years ago. unsurprisingly, i couldn’t even finish one page because i had no idea where to start v__v. my 20-year-old self would be so proud of me now!!!
it seems like 24 hour comics day has largely been abandoned in favor of hourly comics day. honestly, this is probably a good thing since drawing 24 pages in a day can be grueling. however, i had a really fun time with the process, and i’d even consider doing it again :-)
here’s how i planned everything out:
in the end, i worked for 12 hours on day one and 9 hours on day two, making the total process 21 hours!!!
overall, i’m really happy with how the comic came out :-) people who only played kh1+kh2 wouldn’t get most of the jokes, but i’m glad i got some genuine laughs out of my friends. this process proved to me that creating a 24-page comic isn’t as daunting as i once thought it was.
perhaps once i finish my mini comic / zine, i’ll begin writing a far more ambitious 24-page comic (*v*)
due to a lot of life events, i haven't had a chance to make any blog posts until now!!! you wouldn't know by looking at my site, but i've recently been working on art and writing alt text descriptions for my archive. unfortunately, getting time to sit at my desktop to upload any of these things is very rare *__*
i still have many thoughts to share about 24 hour comics day, my WIP comic, and plans for 2025 <3 hopefully i'll get them posted here soon.

i'm making more progress with my 2024 art trades! i've had a lot going on the last few weeks, so art hasn't been a priority. i'm hoping to work on the fourth page of my zine next!
i started this page almost a month ago, but it's finally finished. i think it's super overworked, but at least it still reads easily enough. let's hope i don't take as long to make page four *__*
i already have my idea for page four, but i'll try to finish an art trade before continuing with this comic :-)
i previously said that i'd work on my art trades AFTER finishing my comic page, but i decided to finish one art trade first to build up some morale -__- i finish colored pencil drawings WAY more quickly than digital art (this drawing took ~2 hours).
now that i can say i finished one artwork this month, maybe i'll be more motivated to jump back into my comic :-)
a finished panel from my next comic :-) this comic will be the first one in my zine - the other two will go somewhere in the middle.
even with the limitations i restricted myself to, i'm already losing steam with this mini comic series -___- maybe once i finish this page, i'll work on one of my art trades to give myself a break.
while this comic took way longer than i wanted it to, i finished it in less time than my last comic (^o^)／ i'm getting a better understanding of how to draw these characters!
it's only because the room my desktop is in has no AC -___- i don't want to work in a room that's 88° (31°C). the weather is beginning to cool down, so i'll post more comic WIPs soon :-)
i may have spent far too long on this six-panel comic, but i'm so happy that i actually finished it :^) i'm planning on doing a few more comics in this format to put in a short *zine*
the main reason this took so long is because i draw like a painter. i draw short lines, put too much thought into inessential details, and hate leaving any parts of my drawing looking "messy" -___- but i'm sure my process will become more refined as i keep making comics.
i'll fix these speech bubbles before i print this comic - i replaced my original font, so they look a bit off.
i spent way too long on this one (*_*) but i'm happy with how it turned out! when i started this digital painting, i realized that i hadn't drawn a detailed landscape in nearly two years. i used to draw/paint landscapes WAY more than anything else, but i guess i've been more focused on broadening my skills. i'm glad i haven't forgotten how to draw mountains, because i'll need to draw more of them for my comics!!!

if you were directed here from my instagram, then you already know that i've been working on this blog since april. the main reason i've been working so slowly is because i had NO experience with html or css prior to starting this project. yes, i could've just used a site builder to get this done more quickly, but i think it's more fun to learn a new skill :-)
while i learned a lot on my own, i definitely couldn't have finished this blog without LOTS of help from my friend, fudgemank!!! there's no way i would've figured out github or fancyboxes by myself -___-. he's also working on his own website, which i'll share once it's finished!!!
over the next few weeks, i'm going to add ALL of my art from instagram to this website - that's over 200 images!!! i'll also keep blogging about the comics i'm currently working on.
